I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the filmmakers from Korea and abroad, as well as to all the audience members who have come to brighten this occasion with your presence. Thanks to your passionate interest and support, the Gyeonggi Film School Festival proudly steps into its 11th year, following last year’s meaningful 10th edition.

The festival began as a platform to showcase the works of students from film and media programs across Gyeonggi Province, but it has since grown into a global forum where young, talented creators from all over the world come together. The spirit of experimentation and boldness that defines student film festivals continues to deliver fresh inspiration and moving stories every year — always grounded in the values of challenge, creativity, and dialogue.

This year, too, young filmmakers have captured the world through their own perspectives and voices. Through their brave attempts, intense reflections, and works infused with sincerity, we are invited to encounter new worlds. We applaud the countless hours of thought and effort behind these remarkable results and wholeheartedly cheer for these creators as they step toward even broader horizons.

It has been 11 years since the festival took its very first steps with its core values of creation, challenge, and communication, and once again we find ourselves standing at a new starting line. Over the past decade, the Gyeonggi Film School Festival has grown beyond being a simple venue for screenings — it has become a stage where the passion and potential of young filmmakers shine. Along the way, we have discovered countless new talents and shared in the very first chapters of their journeys.

This year as well, the works of young filmmakers — each capturing the world through their own unique perspectives and voices — are waiting for you. Within these films lie fierce questions, bold experiments, and heartfelt reflections about the future. Through them, we hope you too will begin a new conversation.

Hello, everyone.
I am Ryu Hoon, Co-Chair of the 11th Gyeonggi Film School Festival and professor at Sungkyul University.

Today, this place is filled with stories from filmmakers whose names are not yet known, and with light and shadow still rough around the edges. From the trembling hands that shot the very first frame, to the long nights spent cutting and pasting at the editing desk, every moment has been layered onto this screen.

Cinema, in the end, is a bridge — a bridge from one person’s heart to another’s. As we cross that bridge, we look into each other’s lives, sharing a little of each other’s pain and joy. That is why this is more than just a screening venue; it is a small festival where we meet, connect, and find empathy together.

Over the next three days, the films you will see may be raw, like youth itself — sometimes unpolished, sometimes rough. Yet within that honesty lies a truth that can be found nowhere else. That truth will live in your laughter and tears, and in the moments when you pause to reflect.

A film festival is, ultimately, a stage completed by its audience. It is your breath, your applause, and your warm attention that will make this celebration whole.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone whose efforts made this festival possible — in particular, to Representative Park Ji-hong of Dankook University, Executive Chair Kim Seok-beom of Suwon University, and the f862 Secretariat, the beating heart of this event, for leading the festival’s operations with dedication.
